No Insurance Here
No Insurance here
Years ago, doctors made a living by getting paid for their services directly by the patients they treated. That arrangement was simple. It made sense back then and it still makes sense today.
“Health Insurance” has a lot of benefits, but it can also be a problem for patients and doctors. Let me explain. When doctors accept insurance they are quickly burdened with a lot of things like paperwork, insurance authorizations, electronic filings, phone calls and all sorts of other distractions.
Not only that, but paying for the computers, phone lines, office space and staff just to manage the insurance payments costs a lot of money which must be recovered by charging a lot per patient. One could conclude (like I have) that the high cost of healthcare in this country is largely because we have too much insurance, not too little.
So, “health insurance” is responsible for most of the chaos and a large portion of the costs in a doctor’s office.
This is why more and more doctors are deciding to remove insurance from the equation. Without insurance, the patient-care processes become dramatically simplified and less expensive. Once relieved of the insurance burdens, the doctor can spend more time with patients, provide better care, and can do it at a much lower cost.
If more of us paid our medical bills directly, quality would go up and prices would go down almost overnight. When you pay your doctor directly you will get better care at a lower cost.
