Cymbalta Overview

Cymbalta is a prescription medication used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Cymbalta can also be used to relieve certain types of pain. Cymbalta is in a class of medications called selective serotonin and norepinehrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). It works by increasing natural substances in the brain that help maintain mental balance and stop pain signals.

This medication comes in delayed capsule form and is taken once or twice daily, with or without food.

Common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, and sleepiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Cymbalta affects you.
